CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Whether you’re new to TUMC or have been here for a long time, there is a place for you and your children! On Sunday mornings, children are welcome in worship and can enjoy a special message during the 11:00AM worship service. Sunday School is at 9:30AM on Sunday mornings for children of all ages. Once a month, TUMC’s “Fun Fridays” give parents a night out while kids enjoy time with their friends. Check out the “Children’s Events” page for a list of all other activities and events for children at TUMC.
Children’s Sunday School
Children’s Sunday School is open to children of visitors as well as members. Families can check in at any of the kiosks on the TUMC campus, then take their children to their classroom for Sunday School. After checking children in, they can be dropped off at room 222 in the Education Building at 9:30 for music and special activities. At 10:00, Sunday School teachers escort children to their classrooms, where they can be picked up by 10:45. We ask that you please stay on the church campus while your children are in Sunday School or childcare.
All Sunday School staff and volunteers are Safe Gatherings trained to provide a loving and safe environment for young ones to enjoy fellowship with their peers. Learn more about safety training in the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church here.

Nursery
Nursery care is available for infants to age 2 each Sunday morning. Greeters at the check-in stations can direct you to the nursery center.
W.A.M. Kids!
Worship and Me Kids! is available for children in pre-k (3s and 4s) through Kindergarten after Time for Children at the 11:00AM worship service. Nursery staff will meet them at the doors of the sanctuary and escort them to room 227. Parents pick up their pre-schoolers in room 227.
Inviting all 4th and 5th graders to join us on Sunday afternoon's for fun as we continue to learn and worship. We will meet at 4PM every Sunday in the Annex, room 712. Please plan to join us and bring a friend!
Mini Movers is a baby and caregiver movement class led by Lisa Denis, PT, DPT, PCS that happens every Monday morning. No registration or contracts are required, and this class is open to all in the community. Please invite your friends and spread the word!
Baptism
If you’re interested in baptism for your child, please fill out this form and Stephanie will follow up to answer any questions and confirm the details.
Thank you to everyone who attended VBS 2024, we hope you all learned a lot and had an unforgettable time! We hope we will see all the same faces and more next summer for VBS 2025.
Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers are a huge part of the TUMC Children’s Ministry program. We have many ways to get involved with a variety of time commitments – there is a place for everyone to serve!
Ways to Serve
Sunday School
Each Sunday school classroom currently has a set lead teacher. We ask that volunteers sign up to assist the lead teacher in one of our 3 classrooms. The assistant teacher helps keep order in the room, escorts children to the restroom and is a joyful and loving presence. We have a sign up system that auto-assigns all volunteers on the teaching team to a few shifts each semester. Our goal is for each volunteer to only be in the classroom 3-4 times each semester.
Vacation Bible School
VBS at our church is a large event that can not happen without volunteer help! Our biggest need is for group leaders but we also have spots in the craft room, outside rec time, and more. Volunteer sign up begins in mid to late April each year.
Training
The TUMC Safety Policy requires that all volunteers complete the Safe Gatherings training program prior to volunteering with children. This is a 3-step certification process that must be renewed every two years.
